Communication is key when it comes to starting out in role-play. You may have a completely different fantasy to your partner, so it is important to decide who chooses first and to ensure that you will revisit their idea at another time. There may be some elements to the fantasy that you are not prepared to go through with, so gently make this clear at the start and perhaps think of alternative ways to fulfil the desire that you will both be happy with. If you want to fully immerse yourselves in the roles you choose, it may be wise to think of a safe word, as a way to increase the level of play or indeed to reduce it if things are starting to go too far for you. This is an excellent way to communicate your feelings without the need to break character, so you will be able to continue acting out the scene, without bringing it to a stop.
This is where the fun begins! There are so many options to choose from when you think of roles to play, such as sexy secretary, horny waitress, cops and robbers, hunky fireman with his massive hose...the world is your oyster. You may simply dress up in your role-play costume and get straight down to business or you could spend the day acting out your characters, culminating in a hot and heavy session that brings all of the role-play together.
Outfits are only one element to role-play. You need to try and set the mood for your fantasy in order to get the most from the experience. This could be certain music playing in the background, dimmed lighting, a variety of foods to entice each other with or even something in particular playing on the TV. Props are an excellent way to embrace the make-believe, from handcuffs to vibrators and whips to blindfolds. You could even take these props to a fancy hotel for the night and live out your pretty woman daydream!
At the end of the day it is all about having fun with your partner. If you overthink it, your role-play will become stale and regimented, which defeats the purpose of doing it in the first place. Try not to be shy or nervous, worrying that things will feel awkward. Your partner is likely to feel the same as you do, so if you go into it together, with the intention of it just being fun, you will quickly be able to relax and enjoy the experience. If all goes well, it won’t be long before you are acting out a new role on a regular basis and fulfilling all of the desires that you have dreamt about living out in real life.
